watches you can see. look at this. i-10 right along the gulf coast, houston to new orleans. and this is just really the beginning of it. we're looking at incredibly severe weather. tornado watches and tornado warnings. tornado warnings meaning these storms have produced rotation and have been detected. you can see right there. so right now it's eastern texas moving into louisiana. kind of to give you a perspective, south of i-20 here is tyler, texas. here's shreveport, louisiana. all of these moving northeast and this is just the beginning of really what could be an inundation of severe weather today and really a rash of tornadoes which is really quite rare for christmas day. so here is a look from houston to new orleans the beginning of the day from now through kind of early afternoon and as we head toward afternoon and into evening, atlanta, birmingham, so dangerous tornadoes, winds 60 to 80 miles per hour, straight line winds could be a factor as well. as well as damaging hail. so you kind of get the perspective and the gravity of this. that is the severe weather side. on the back si

southeast. houston, new orleans, atlanta, and the west coast as well. but it is not just rain. it is the potential for severe weather outbreak in the southeast and i'll show you that. who will be white, wichita, oklahoma city, snow for you. little rock and spokane. let me delineate the day and show you what is going to happen tomorrow. this is really the biggest concern. tomorrow morning, from houston through new orleans, the potential for strong tornadoes, 60 to 80-mile-per-hour winds and strong hail and big hail as well. and then it moves east during the afternoon. so the panhandle of florida gets into it. atlanta, birmingham, tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night. and then it moves on wednesday here to the eastern seaboard. so the severe threat, very real and also very rare. rare tornadoes in florida and georgia. last time we had tornadoes on christmas was 2006. and oklahoma city, very rare for snow and you are going to see oklahoma city five to eight inches of snow tomorrow as the big storm gets going, hala, and moves from the southeast with severe weather in through the mid-atla

houston are trying to bring down a stubborn fever in the oldest-living former president. we're talking about george h.w. bush. more than a month ago the 88-year-old bush has been in houston's methodist hospital since november 7th. we learned yesterday he was moved into icu on sunday in guarded condition. what does that mean? our dr. sanjay gupta explains. >> when i take care of patients in the intensive care unit, when we say they are guarded, that means we're keeping an eye on several different things. that could be the lungs, could be someone's kidney function, could be neurological status. we don't know what this particularly means with the former president, but we need around-the-clock monitoring. all of his vital signs and there are things we're trying to prevent from going in the wrong direction. >> miguel march kwez has more from houston. >> reporter: the first thing the family wants people to know is that he's doing okay despite this long stint in the hospital. a spokesman says they want to thank everybody from around the world for sending in their thoughts and concerns
